What people say about our camps.
What is the Galactic Summer Music Camp?
A full-day (9am - 4pm) non-residential music camp with rehearsals for FOUR days (January 14-17) culminating in a Finale Concert on the final evening.
The camp is lead by TRYO conductor Tim Gray, with Vocal Ensemble director Michelle Gray, and Junior Ensemble conductor Jeremy Gray.

What music will we get to play?
The theme for this camp is GALACTIC, so we will be enjoying some of the most epic and recognisable music written for space adventures including John Williams' iconic themes for Star Wars, as well as music from Star Trek, Apollo 13, Doctor Who, Interstellar, 2001: A Space Odyssey and more.

Who can attend?
All young musicians between ages 11 and 24 that meet the minimum skill level requirements below.

If your main instrument's position is full, you can still register with your second instrument (listed as your main instrument in the form) if there are still positions available for your second instrument.

If your instrument/s are not available or you're not sure if you can do the camp, please contact us with the form at the bottom of the page.

What if I play two instruments?
Players can list a second instrument or more on the registration form.
This is especially helpful for us to know if, for example, a violinist might be willing to play viola.

Instruments such as piano and acoustic/electric guitar don't usually have enough parts to list them as a main instrument but you can list them as a second or third instrument should we require someone to play that part.

What level do you need to be? Is there an audition?
NO, there is no audition required!

The camp can cater for all early intermediate to advanced musicians and singers.
Three groups will be running for the entire camp:
Full Orchestra, Junior Ensemble and Vocal Group.

Level Requirements:

Check with your teacher if you're not sure of your level.

Full Youth Orchestra
Grade 4/5+ AMEB is required for 1st parts and solos.
A minimum Grade 3 AMEB level for the 2nd/3rd parts.
IMPORTANT: Very good ability in sight-reading is highly recommended for this short intensive camp.

Junior Ensemble
Players should have at least a couple of years of tuition and have reached about Grade 1 or 2 AMEB level.
A good knowledge of simpler keys including concert C, F, G and D major. Reading of notes is essential.

Vocal Group
Vocalists will need to be able to sing in tune. Experience in part-singing is strongly recommended. Please list vocal type (sop., alto, tenor bass) during registration.
Being able to read music is a distinct advantage, but not essential if you are a quick learner.
